READING: For 5th and 6th Grade English this year we will be using Literature Circles to read all of our class books. A Literature Circle is like a book discussion group. Students choose the group, the book they wish to read and then they work their way through the book together by reading each section, together or separately, planning and running meetings to discuss the section in which they each have a specific job to do. In their meetings, there are well defined jobs which each student will rotate through by the end of the book. Please feel free to read the books along with your student. Family discussion can be really great! Reading points on Whoooo's ReadingWe have a great contest going in the 5th and 6th Grade English Classes. We are keeping track of books read in free time, not those assigned for class, and will be rewarding the class with the most books at the end of each semester. Students need to do 2 things for the book to count.
1. Go on to the Whooo's Reading website https://www.whooosreading.org/ , log in with their new student account. answer the questions about the book you have read. It will send me information letting me know that they indeed completed the book questions well enough to have read the book. check out the video to the right ------> for details. 2. Get a book spine worksheet from the mailboxes in my room and fill it out! So far, it's pretty close! If you would like to help with the winner's party (either all of 5th or all of 6th) let me know. We will be serving a pizza and ice cream lunch in the classroom!
